Lip Flip

Do you want subtly fuller lips without using fillers? A lip flip with botulinum toxin is a refined treatment that optically tilts the upper lip slightly outwards, making it appear fuller without adding extra volume.

At Xavier Clinics there is a natural and elegant look central. The lip flip is ideal for clients who want a subtle improvement without a visible "sprayed-on" effect.

What is a lip flip?

A lip flip is a procedure in which a small amount of botulinum toxin is injected into the muscle surrounding the upper lip (the orbicularis oris). By gently relaxing this muscle:

  • Subtly tilts the upper lip outward

  • More of the lip becomes visible

  • Makes the upper lip look fuller

  • Creates a softer lip contour

There is no volume added, such as lip fillers.

Who is a lip flip suitable for?

A lip flip is suitable for:

  • People with a narrow upper lip

  • Clients who do not want filler

  • An upper lip that curls inward when smiling

  • Subtle lip enhancement

  • Correction of a slightly gummy smile

During the consultation we will assess whether a lip flip will be effective enough or whether another treatment would be more appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Lip Flip

What is the difference between a lip flip and lip fillers?

A lip flip relaxes the muscle around the upper lip, causing it to turn slightly outward. Lip fillers actually add volume.

Is a lip flip safe?

Yes, provided it is performed by an experienced cosmetic physician.

Is the treatment painful?

The injections are administered with a very fine needle and are usually experienced as slightly sensitive.

How long will the treatment take?

About 20 minutes, including consultation.

Do I look unnatural?

No. The result is subtle and natural.

How long does the effect last?

On average 2 to 3 months.

Can I talk and eat immediately after the treatment?

Yes, but in the first few days the upper lip may feel slightly different when speaking or drinking.

Can a lip flip be combined with fillers?

Yes. A combination can further refine the lip shape.

Are there any side effects?

Mild redness or swelling may occur and usually disappears within a few hours.

Consultation with the doctor

Before all treatments, a consultation is scheduled. During this consultation, the doctor will listen to your wishes and explore the options available to achieve them. The doctor will thoroughly inform you about the pre- and aftercare, the expected results, any risks, and the recovery process for the chosen treatment.

The treatment

Once you've chosen to undergo treatment with us, we'll ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and sign a treatment agreement beforehand. If you take a lot of medication, please bring your medication list to your appointment.

Photos will be taken of you both before and after the treatment for your medical records. In some cases, the skin is locally anesthetized with a numbing cream or anesthetic solution before the treatment.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you will receive an aftercare form by email. You do not need to stay at the clinic and can go home immediately. It is common for the skin to be red and swollen after the treatment, and sometimes some bruising may occur. These side effects will disappear on their own. It is important that you cool the treated area well with the cool pack you received, if advised. If you experience severe bruising, we recommend applying Arnica cream to the treated area.

It is recommended that you avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for the first four hours after treatment. Exposure to intense heat (sun, sauna, or tanning bed) is also discouraged for one week after treatment. We advise against having a facial for two weeks after treatment. You can assess the final result after two weeks.

If you have any questions about your recovery, please feel free to contact us.

Risks

The risk of complications is very small. As with any procedure, there is a small risk of infection or allergy.
