FAQ

What is the difference between fillers and botulinum toxin?

The difference between fillers and botulinum toxin is that fillers provide volume and botulinum toxin reduces muscle contraction. Fillers can be used to plump up cheeks or lips, for instance. Botulinum toxin can help to reduce wrinkles such as those that occur when you frown.

Are treatments using botulinum toxin or fillers safe during pregnancy?

No, you cannot receive treatment using botulinum toxin or fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

When will the final result of my treatment be visible?

The final results of treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers will be clearly apparent after approximately 14 days.

How many ml of filler will I need?

This depends on the desired result and on what is possible. You are welcome to visit us for a free consultation to discuss this with one of our practitioners.

What is a botulinum toxin zone treatment?

A ‘zone’ refers to a specific muscle group. Forehead wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet are all caused by different groups of muscles. If you want treatment for a single muscle group, you make an appointment for ‘1 zone.’ If you want to have several muscle groups treated, you can book multiple zones at a discount.

How much will my treatment cost?

Please consult our Rates page.

How long will botulinum toxin or fillers work and have visible results?

Botulinum toxin does not have a permanent effect, and will wear off after three to four months on average. Regular botulinum toxin treatments may prolong the effects, allowing you to enjoy longer-lasting results. For fillers, the duration is strongly dependent on the specific area, but results will generally remain visible for around six months.

Is treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers painful?

Our fillers contain lidocaine, which acts as an anesthetic. Most of our procedures are therefore very well tolerated. When treating more sensitive areas, such as the lips, we may apply a numbing cream as well. Treatment with botulinum toxin does not require anesthesia; the procedure consists of quick, short jabs and is not experienced as very painful.

Could side effects occur after treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers?

After your treatment you may experience some slight swelling, redness or bruising. We administer your treatment with the greatest of care and do our very best to minimise such side effects.

How long will treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers take to administer?

Your procedure’s duration will depend on the size and number of areas being treated. We will be able to provide you with an estimated duration during your consultation prior to treatment.

Can I go out in the sun after treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers?

It is important that you stay out of the sun as much as possible in the first week following your treatment. Saunas and tanning beds should also be avoided. Our recommendation is always to apply sunscreen with a high SPF value to ensure sufficient protection. Heat may cause your body to degrade the product more rapidly.

Can I have a facial after treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers?

We recommend against getting a facial right after your treatment. After 14 days, the product will have settled in and facials should no longer be a problem.

Can I wear makeup after my treatment?

We recommend against wearing any makeup in the first 24 hours after your treatment.

What is the minimum age for treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers?

We are legally prohibited from providing treatment to anyone under 18 years of age. We therefore check everyone’s age prior to treatment. Please have your ID card or passport available.

When will I not be able to undergo treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers?

You cannot receive treatment with botulinum toxin or fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Sometimes, previous placement of permanent fillers can also mean a treatment will not be possible. Other reasons may include certain medications and specific muscular disorders. Prior to your treatment, we will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire, allowing our practitioner to determine whether it is safe to proceed with the treatment.

Is treatment with botulinum toxin and/or fillers safe?

The products that we use comply with European regulations. They have undergone extensive testing and we know that as long as they are administered appropriately, they are safe to use in the body. Our practitioners are trained in the use of these products and will do all they can to ensure that the treatment proceeds safely.

Do you also work with permanent fillers?

No, we work exclusively with non-permanent fillers that are naturally degraded by the body over time.

What brands do you use in your treatments?

We only use name brand products. For our botulinum toxin treatments, we use the Azzalure brand of products. For treatment with fillers we use Stylage and Teosyal. For dermal treatments, we use Restylane and Profhilo.

Who will administer my treatment?

Your treatment will be performed by medical specialists and skin therapists who are registered with the BIG. You can learn more about our practitioners on our Team page.

Is a chemical peeling sensitive?

In general, the treatment is well tolerated. The feeling of a chemical peel is described as tingling, itching, burning and hot. During the treatment, a fan becomes used so that you have minimal discomfort.

Is microneedling/mesotherapy painful?

The treatment feels like small pricks in the skin and is not painful. The skin can possibly be sedated with a cream so that you hardly feel anything.
