Ultrasound-guided injections

Ultrasound-guided injections are an advanced and highly precise technique in which injections are placed using real-time ultrasound. This allows us to see exactly where blood vessels, nerves, fillers and other structures are located. At Xavier Clinics we use ultrasound-guided injections to safety, precision and predictability to significantly increase the number of cosmetic treatments.

This technique is mainly used for complex or risky areas, corrections and medical indications.

What are ultrasound-guided injections?

With ultrasound-guided injections, the doctor uses an ultrasound device to to look under the skin during treatment. This makes it possible to:

  • To locate blood vessels and nerves

  • To make existing fillers visible

  • Safe and precise injection

  • Prevent or treat complications

Ultrasound-guided injections offer an additional layer of safety compared to standard injection techniques.

When are ultrasound-guided injections used?

At Xavier Clinics, ultrasound-guided injections are used for:

  • Risky areas such as tear troughs, temples and nose

  • Corrections of previously placed fillers

  • Treatment with hyaluronidase (dissolve filler)

  • Unclear swelling, bumps or pain complaints

  • Clients with previous complications or uncertainty about filler location

Not every treatment requires ultrasound guidance, but in complex cases it offers clear added value.

Frequently asked questions about ultrasound-guided injections

What exactly are ultrasound-guided injections?

Ultrasound-guided injections are injections that are performed using real-time ultrasound to visualize structures beneath the skin.

Are ultrasound-guided injections safer?

Yes. Because blood vessels and fillers are visible, the doctor can work more precisely and safely.

Is an ultrasound-guided injection more painful?

No. The treatment feels similar to a regular injection. The ultrasound machine itself is painless.

Is ultrasound guidance always used?

No. Ultrasound guidance is used when it has added medical or aesthetic value, such as for risk areas or corrections.

Can ultrasound guidance also be used with hyaluronidase?

Yes. Ultrasound-guided injections are very suitable for targeted dissolution of fillers with hyaluronidase.

How long does an ultrasound-guided treatment take?

Depending on the indication approximately 30 to 45 minutes, including analysis and treatment.

Will I see results right away?

With corrections and filler treatments, the results are often immediately visible, with further improvement in the days afterward.

Are there any side effects?

Mild swelling, redness or tenderness may occur and usually disappear within a few days.

Consultation with the doctor

Before all treatments, a consultation is scheduled. During this consultation, the doctor will listen to your wishes and explore the options available to achieve them. The doctor will thoroughly inform you about the pre- and aftercare, the expected results, any risks, and the recovery process for the chosen treatment.

The treatment

Once you've chosen to undergo treatment with us, we'll ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and sign a treatment agreement beforehand. If you take a lot of medication, please bring your medication list to your appointment.

Photos will be taken of you both before and after the treatment for your medical records. In some cases, the skin is locally anesthetized with a numbing cream or anesthetic solution before the treatment.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you will receive an aftercare form by email. You do not need to stay at the clinic and can go home immediately. It is common for the skin to be red and swollen after the treatment, and sometimes some bruising may occur. These side effects will disappear on their own. It is important that you cool the treated area well with the cool pack you received, if advised. If you experience severe bruising, we recommend applying Arnica cream to the treated area.

It is recommended that you avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for the first four hours after treatment. Exposure to intense heat (sun, sauna, or tanning bed) is also discouraged for one week after treatment. We advise against having a facial for two weeks after treatment. You can assess the final result after two weeks.

If you have any questions about your recovery, please feel free to contact us.

Risks

The risk of complications is very small. As with any procedure, there is a small risk of infection or allergy.
