Frown lines

Deep lines between the eyebrows also known as frown lines These lines can give the face an angry, tired, or tense look. Even when you feel relaxed, a frown line can unintentionally make you look different.

At Xavier Clinics we treat frown lines with botulinum toxin in a subtle and safe way. The goal is a softer, fresher appearance, without loss of natural facial expressions.

What are frown lines?

Frown lines are vertical lines between the eyebrows that are caused by repeated tension of the muscles in this area (particularly the corrugator and procerus muscles).

Causes of frown lines:

  • Repetitive facial expressions (frowning, concentrating)

  • Stress or bright light

  • Skin aging

  • Decrease in collagen and elasticity

  • Genetic predisposition

Over time, these dynamic lines may remain visible even at rest.

How does botulinum toxin work for frown lines?

Botulinum toxin temporarily relaxes the muscles responsible for frowning. This:

  • Reduces muscle activity

  • Soften the lines

  • Prevents wrinkles from becoming deeper

  • Creates a relaxed and open appearance

The treatment is fast, effective and non-surgical.

Consultation with the doctor

Before all treatments, a consultation is scheduled. During this consultation, the doctor will listen to your wishes and explore the options available to achieve them. The doctor will thoroughly inform you about the pre- and aftercare, the expected results, any risks, and the recovery process for the chosen treatment.

The treatment

Once you've chosen to undergo treatment with us, we'll ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and sign a treatment agreement beforehand. If you take a lot of medication, please bring your medication list to your appointment.

Photos will be taken of you both before and after the treatment for your medical records. In some cases, the skin is locally anesthetized with a numbing cream or anesthetic solution before the treatment.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you will receive an aftercare form by email. You do not need to stay at the clinic and can go home immediately. It is common for the skin to be red and swollen after the treatment, and sometimes some bruising may occur. These side effects will disappear on their own. It is important that you cool the treated area well with the cool pack you received, if advised. If you experience severe bruising, we recommend applying Arnica cream to the treated area.

It is recommended that you avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for the first four hours after treatment. Exposure to intense heat (sun, sauna, or tanning bed) is also discouraged for one week after treatment. We advise against having a facial for two weeks after treatment. You can assess the final result after two weeks.

If you have any questions about your recovery, please feel free to contact us.

Risks

The risk of complications is very small. As with any procedure, there is a small risk of infection or allergy.
