XL Hair®

XL Hair® is a hair booster, a scalp injection solution that nourishes and reactivates hair follicles. It contains a wide range of active ingredients, including (natural) hyaluronic acid supplemented with 47 other active ingredients. Together with the nourishing ingredients in XL Hair®, hair follicles are optimally stimulated and activated. This makes hair follicles healthy and productive again, stopping hair loss and promoting increased hair growth. Thinning hair can be addressed with XL Hair®, resulting in thicker, stronger hair. Consultation with the doctor

Before all treatments, a consultation is scheduled. During this consultation, the doctor will listen to your wishes and explore the options available to achieve them. The doctor will thoroughly inform you about the pre- and aftercare, the expected results, any risks, and the recovery process for the chosen treatment.

The treatment

Once you've chosen to undergo treatment with us, we'll ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and sign a treatment agreement beforehand. If you take a lot of medication, please bring your medication list to your appointment.

Photos will be taken of you both before and after the treatment for your medical records. In some cases, the skin is locally anesthetized with a numbing cream or anesthetic solution before the treatment.

Aftercare

After the treatment, you will receive an aftercare form by email. You do not need to stay at the clinic and can go home immediately. It is common for the skin to be red and swollen after the treatment, and sometimes some bruising may occur. These side effects will disappear on their own. It is important that you cool the treated area well with the cool pack you received, if advised. If you experience severe bruising, we recommend applying Arnica cream to the treated area.

It is recommended that you avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for the first four hours after treatment. Exposure to intense heat (sun, sauna, or tanning bed) is also discouraged for one week after treatment. We advise against having a facial for two weeks after treatment. You can assess the final result after two weeks.

Risks

The risk of complications is very small. As with any procedure, there is a small risk of infection or allergy.

Is XL Hair® right for me?

There are several causes of hair loss (medically called alopecia). Hair loss that is hereditary or that occurs after hormonal changes can be effectively treated with the XL Hair treatment. Alopecia androgenetica (also known as male pattern baldness) and alopecia areata (a genetic form, mainly found in women and children) are examples of alopecia in which the hair follicles are not yet scarred.

For these forms of alopecia, XL Hair® has the greatest chance of success – as long as hair follicles are still present and there are no clear other causes for the hair loss, such as underlying conditions or medication.

The skin therapist will diagnose your condition and determine whether you are a suitable candidate. In the following cases, you are not (yet) ready for XL Hair® treatment:

  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • If you have wounds, a skin disease or an infection, for example a cold sore (herpes infection) or a streptococcal infection.
  • If you have a scarring form of alopecia.
  • Consult your skin therapist if you are being treated with immunosuppressants or corticosteroids, or if you have an autoimmune disease, type 1 diabetes, acute rheumatoid arthritis, persistent angina pectoris or endocarditis.

The treatment

On the day of the treatment, wash your hair beforehand with Scalpfit shampoo. After the treatment, you may not wash your hair or use hair products that day. (You may do so again the day after.) The XL Hair® is administered by the skin therapist via superficial injections into the scalp. The treatment is not painful. Your skin may appear slightly red after the treatment, but this is barely visible between your hair and will disappear after a few hours.

To get the most out of your treatments, it's important to follow the treatment plan, complete the full course of treatment, and use the prescribed support products at home. These products include two different shampoos and a hairspray.

A treatment for men usually consists of six sessions, and for women, eight. The first four treatments should take place weekly, followed by biweekly sessions.
